Henna Virkkunen

Henna Virkkunen is a Finish MEP for the Kansallinen Kokoomus Party, part of the European People’s Party (EPP). She was elected to the European Parliament in 2014. She is a member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE). She is also a substitute member of the committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN). She was appointed shadow rapporteur on Toward a Digital Single Market Act, among other files. Before being elected to the European Parliament, Virkkunen served as Finish Minister of Transport and Local Government in 2014. She has also been Minister of Public Administration and Local Government from 2011 to 2014 and a Minister of Education from 2008 to 2011. Virkkunen holds a MA in Philosophy from the University of Jyväskylä.
